Depth of Flat Object Filter

It would be great if there was a Filter to make a flat object look like it has Depth from an angle. Like a poster would look like it is mounted on a board or frame.

Isn’t this what the Outer Shadow Effect does?
If not, can you give a visual example (or, preferably, more than one) of what you think this new feature would do?
The more details you can give the better other people will understand what you want.
