Copy selection??

I am going completely insane here!!!! I just want to COPY THIS SELECTION to a new layer containing just the selection. I cant use duplicate, i cant copy and paste… the entire layer with masks just gets copied. Please help!

I have tried this in other projects and it works just fine. It is JUST IN THIS project its completely impossible, how can that be. I have even tried deleting the masks attached to this image, but no. Impossible.

If i open JUST this image everything works just fine. But NOT within another project, then the entire image gest copied. I have also tried this with other images, it DOES NOT WORK within another project, is it some kind of bug?

Hi @Branlid,

It looks like you're attempting to copy a selection from an immutable image layer, if you want to only copy your selection area you'll first need to convert your selected layer to a pixel layer by rasterising it under this menu in the layers menu:  This should then allow you to freely manipulate and copy the pixel content of your selected object.

This function will clear off any active mask layers clipped/nested on the image, so you may want to unclip these first before rasterising.

@Branlid As Nathan has stated, you need to rasterize placed images in order to edit pixels. Look at the label on the layer. If it says Image, rasterise the layer. Then it will say pixel, and can be edited.

Your layers say ‘image’. Tap the layer to select it.  The next pic shows how to rasterize that layer.
