Gjuroo Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 (edited) When creating New document there is checkbox for "Transparent Background". If unchecked, document is created with plain white colour. My suggestion is to give us one another option - to create New document with Fill layer. Maybe there could also be option to choose the colour of Fill layer. - In almost every document, sooner or later, I will add Fill layer. Why not to have it from the creation of new document? Gjuroo Posted October 9, 2023 Author Posted October 9, 2023 Template sounds OK if you mostly use files with several specific dimensions. Adding Fill layer checkbox would be handy feature when creating new document of any size and kind. It would be also handy when creating templates. Quote

It might help people to understand your requirements if you explain why you add a Fill Layer to almost every document and what uses you have for it. (Maybe there’s already a different/better way to get what you want.) Quote

I think simpler and more correct than inserting another layer that will interfere with the Layers stack would be a simple option to define background color of the document (transparent background is its non-color). GarryP Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Once the OP has described the problem they are trying to overcome then we should have a better idea of what the request is about. Quote

I like to have monochromatic layer which I can move above and below other layers and also to have possibility to change it's colour. Yes, I can add Fill layer whenever I need it but I think it would be cool to have that option when creating a new document. Also, it would be cool to have option to start document with chosen background colour but it would be even cooler if you can change that colour after you've created document. Quote

I take it for granted that the background color could be changed during the work (just as its transparency can currently be changed). 6 hours ago, Gjuroo said: but I think it would be cool to have that option when creating a new document. Unlike setting the background color, which many users might be interested in (especially in applications that don't even have a Fill Layer), the functionality you want is very specific. Templates are intended for those cases when you need some special properties for a new document (for example, inserted layers and objects). In them, you can prepare document templates according to your needs.
