anto
I have scanned photos on an A3 sheet. How can i split them into separate files? And in which program to do it quickly and without loss of quality. Photo or Designer. thank you
v_kyr
There should be different methods possible here ... either manually by selecting images and copy them into a new doc and save manually by selecting images and export only always the actual image selection or via the help of the Export Persona, making slices out of the images and exporting those or via some third-party prog which can extract embedded JPG/PNG images ... The used Affinity app (APh or ADe) shouldn't really matter here. anto 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.

I can't select the images because they are on the same A3 sheet (4-5 images on A3). And what about the quality? If it was scanned at 300dpi on A3, will the quality of each photo be 300dpi after export?

Keep "Pixel Alignment" in mind. Create the rectangle with no fill + no stroke, the layer hierarchy does not matter. Then with just the rectangle selected choose Export -> Selection Area in the wanted size and resolution. It may shorten the various export settings if you set the document size for the opened A3 scan accordingly before export. Limitation: This way the images must be exported individually, one image at a time. anto 1 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

thomaso
Just in case: some scanner software has an option to auto-detect + separate several images placed on its screen. I am not experienced with slices but I assume you may set it either in a preset or individually for every slice. (I am used to the 'Rectangle' method in APub only / no slices) Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

I would use the Export Persona and make slices as below. 3 minutes ago, anto said: And if you create slices, what about the quality? Quality is a subjective term. It will be no better than if you were to print out the entire A3 sheet and physically cutout the images. If you choose JPEG with high compression it will be much worse. anto 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.
