JordiR
Hi guys I need some help here, My APhoto has slow performance, let me explain. The startup times are almost 45s until I can get the "New document" window popup, without this window times goes down to 35s. I used the Ctrl at startup, and checked all my fonts (273 fonts installed, never had any issue). Also every time I load a document with some textbox the first time I try to edit the content Photo freezes for more or less 5 seconds until I can edit the text. Another super annoying behavior is when I'm using the brush tool and want to hot swap to the hand tool to move the canvas with the space key, it takes like a second to make the tool swap so many times I put an involuntary brush stroke because of that. Another funky thing is the pressure control with my tablet (Huion Inspiroy HP950P), it's super annoying how it works, I cannot have the same feel that I have in photoshop, instant and easy pressure and opacity control. If anyone can give any advice on it I appreciate a lot!! Any other software in my computer works fine so it's and Affinty related issue. Never had any issues like that in Photoshop, I'm sorry to say that, and I switched to Affinty because I really liked the demos, but now I have a lot of work to do and so many issues with that. My specs: PC W10 latest update R9 3900X 32Gb Ram Affinty on SSD GTX 1080 2k screen Edited October 6, 2023 by JordiR
Staff NathanC Posted October 10, 2023 Staff Share Posted October 10, 2023 Welcome to the forums @JordiR, I've provided a few initial points to try below to see if the app startup and general responsiveness/performance on your device can be improved: Disable Hardware Acceleration In some circumstances/hardware configurations having Hardware Acceleration enabled can cause problems, this can be disabled under Edit > Preferences > Performance. Once you have unticked this setting, close the menu and restart the app for the change to take effect. Whilst you're in the same menu, also make sure to have the 'Renderer' assigned to your dedicated Graphics card rather than the integrated graphics. Update your GPU Drivers Make sure that you have the latest available drivers installed for your GPU, i've linked the AMD and Nvidia driver search tool below. When installing the latest drivers, opt for a clean installation. https://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx Download the .MSI App instead of the .MSIX Some users have reported that installing the app via the unsandboxed .MSI installer has resulted in improved benchmark scores and general performance, I've linked an FAQ post below which details how to install the .MSI version of the app, be sure to uninstall Photo 2 first before installing the .MSI version to avoid any conflicts/issues. If you're already using the .MSI/EXE app version this can be ignored. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/180014-affinity-v2-windows-installers-are-available-as-unsandboxed-msiexe-as-well-as-sandboxed-msix/#comment-1039132 -- On 10/6/2023 at 9:39 AM, JordiR said: Another funky thing is the pressure control with my tablet (Huion Inspiroy HP950P), it's super annoying how it works, I cannot have the same feel that I have in photoshop, instant and easy pressure and opacity control. Try changing the tablet input method under Edit > Prefs > Tools between the High/Low Precision and Windows Ink options to see which one works best for your tablet, be sure to restart the app in between changing this for it to take effect.
