Calvert
When creating text as a symbol most everything works ok until you turn off sync and turn it back on. Objects will NOT sync back up.

Calvert
Without getting deep i to a project....For simplicity, Lets say I have 2 text symbols, want to rotate 1, then resync to further changes can be made together. They won't re-sync.
carl123
If you turn off synching then make a change to a symbol certain attributes can become unlinked (e.g. Opacity, Fill Colour, Stroke, Transformations etc) Once that particular attribute is unlinked you can't re-sync it but other attributes will re-sync when you turn synching back on in the Symbols panel The layers panel will indicate a layer has some sort of unlinked attribute by displaying a dashed, vertical orange line next to it rather than the standard solid one used for symbols The attributes that are unlinked can be seen by hovering near these dash lines in the Layers panel This is all further complicated by the fact that objects within the symbol can have unlinked/linked attributes and the symbol itself can have unlinked/linked attributes working separately and together. Also, when you unlink an attribute at the symbol level you can get unexpected other attributes unlinked also, which do not get unlinked if you unlinked the same attribute at the object level It all gets a bit very confusing at times Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. They won't re-sync. Here on Mac OS 12.7.0 I have no difficulty with doing that. I have a Symbol and one of the things in it is a line of text. I make two instances of it and in one I select the text layer, turn off syncing and rotate it, then turn syncing back on. Now I have two Symbols and I can change the Letters in one of them and the other will also have the new letters change. It just means Symbols are not functioning as the OP wants in his situation. But if you think Symbols are useless, perhaps Serif should just trash the whole feature, remove it, erase it from everyone's memory... 😄 Quote Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions.
