Opening multiple files in Designer always opens less than selected

Whenever I select 3 files on the desktop and right click open with designer (PDF), it opens 2.. If I select 6-7, it opens 4. Seriously, it's annoying AF and it's been around for quite some time. Photoshop opens them fine, so it's not a Mac Finder thing..

Intel Macbook 16", latest OS.

I can't seem to replicate this on my macOS system using Designer V2 (2.2). If I select 4-5 PDF files and use Open With > all of them open, some quicker than others depending on content/multiple pages.

Does it matter which files are selected?
Do any have security applied?
Do they open in Designer individually?

Because it happens randomly... This morning I tried to open 3 files, 2 opened. then 7 and 5 opened. Files are not locked, and open individually. I have tried the SAME files now, and all opened. This is as random as the pressing export to export, yet nothing happens bug.. I will try to take a video of it next time.

Is it an idea to add a “Loading”  pop-up in the middle of the screen like in a website? Now you must watch on top the message. This wil make waiting less long for the user.

This is a known bug, AFB-7077 which originally only affected Designer and Publisher on Monterey... It still exists in Publisher V2.2.0 but appears to be working correctly in both Designer and Photo v2.2.0...

You mention in your first post that you are using the latest OS, so are we correct to assume Sonoma? If so then this would appear to be a regression in Designer since I can't see AFB-7077 listed as having been fixed in the bug fix lists.

For me, it is dependent on whether or not you've had an Affinity document opened prior to opening the multiple PDF files.

  • If you reboot Designer or Publisher then select multiple PDF files, right-click and select 'Open With' then they all open...

  • If you reboot Designer or Publisher, create a new Designer or Publisher document, then close it (leaving the app open) when you then select multiple PDF files, right-click and select 'Open With' this is what I get...

Results After Creating a New Document and then Closing the New Documenty Leaving Affinity Designer or Publisher Open

  • One pdf selected - one pdf opens
  • Two pdf's selected - one pdf opens
  • Three pdf's selected - two pdf's open
  • Four pdf's selected - two pdf's open
  • Five pdf's selected - three pdf's open
  • Six pdf's selected - three pdf's open
  • Seven pdf's selected - four pdf's open
  • Eight pdf's selected - four pdf's open
  • Nine pdf's selected - five pdf's open
  • Ten pdf's selected - five pdf's open
  • Eleven pdf's selected - six pdf's open
  • Twelve pdf's selected - six pdf's open
