Mark Beattie Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Good day, I'm new here and am learning about clipping masks. Recently I saw a video that showed how to drag an image layer onto a layer with - say - text in it, and it would create a clipping mask using the text while showing the image in the background. My question is 'How can this be done with one image across different elements like linework, text etc.?' As you can see from my photos, the way I achieved this look (create clipping masks for each element) looks janky as the image cannot be perfectly lined-up. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance, Mark
NotMyFault Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 There are different ways to do this: a. Bitmap fill Group all your layers containing the clipping objects on the group, use the fill tool. set mode to bitmap fill, and choose the image you want to use as fill b. Blend mode erase Group all your layers containing the clipping objects on the group, set blend mode to „erase“ nest the group to the layer containing the foreground d. Rasterize to mask Group all your layers containing the clipping objects Rasterize to mask apply this mask to the image to get it masked Mark Beattie 1 Goodby Forum, thanks for good discussion and so much support from great peers and Affinity staff. thomaso Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 … or use your separate elements grouped as mask for the image by dragging the Group onto the Image layer's thumbnail. Mark Beattie 1 • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.6.2 | Affinity V2.6.3
