select and move an object - doesn't work!

Recommended Posts

This shouldn't be this hard. This is an EPS file loaded into Affinity Designer. It appears on the screen in PNG. I've switched to Pixel mode. I've drawn a selection box around the logo to the right hand of the image. I want to CLICK AND DRAG that logo to a different spot on the screen. But I can't seem to affect the pixels inside the "marching ants" in any way.

(I'm a brand new Designer user, though I've had Affinity Photo for years).

Is there an easy solution for me?

I am not really sure what is going on here. Is it an EPS file or a PNG file?

Regardless, try staying in Designer persona and use the Move tool (the solid black arrow, shortcut key V) to move the PNG/EPS.

It would help to have a screenshot that shows the Layers panel.

It's a flat image, pasted in from another program.

Using the pixel personna, I just want to select a rectangle of pixels (since it's not a discrete "object") and either move them elsewhere on the page ... or "cut" and "paste" the contexts of the selection box elsewhere on the page.

If it is an Image Layer then you'll need to rasterize it first in order to do what you want with pixels in the Pixel Persona.
