eauzone73
Hi, I am brand new to the product and forum so please forgive what might be a silly question. I have been adjusting a RAW file in Develop Persona and it looks good. However, as soon as I hit "Develop" it looks terrible - over done, jagged instead of straight lines and over detailed etc. It is the same with every photo I have tried so far. Can anyone tell me why it does this and how to retain the picture on the screen when I hit "Develop". Thanks! Tom
Staff MEB Posted March 28, 2016 Staff Share Posted March 28, 2016 Hi Tom, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Which RAW format/camera are you using? Any chance you can post a link to a sample image? Have you tried to change the RAW engine used by Affinity Photo? You can do so opening a RAW image then going to menu View ▸ Assistant Manager... and changing the Raw Engine dropdown to Apple (Core Image RAW). You must reopen the image for the new setting take effect. eauzone73
Thanks. I will give it a try when I am back home on Friday. Tom
eauzone73
Hi, I have tried what you suggested and it doesn't help. The previously smooth lines become jagged. I have tried to attach it but the extension is not allowed by this community. The picture is also much lighter on my desk top - it looks altogether better before I hit develop. Any thoughts? Thanks, Tom

Staff MEB Posted April 17, 2016 Staff Share Posted April 17, 2016 Hi Tom, I've replied to your PM. To work around forum's extension restrictions, zip your files before uploading them. blackest
Raising Shadows in Develop seems to lose detail as a live filter in the main module it is much better. To be honest I would choose light room over affinity photo for developing an image because the results are much better currently I will try the Apple raw engine and see if that can equal ACR.
