Small scale save dialogue box in Affinity Photo 2 on 4K monitor

Recommended Posts

First, it would help to know if you are a Mac or Windows user. Aside from that, do you mean the text is too small in the Save window, or that the window is too small to show you all the possible locations you want to save to, too narrow to show all the columns if in a view that shows them, etc.?

Hi, sorry, should have given a little more info. I'm running Windows 10 on a Hewlett Packard Z440 desktop. The save/open window is just a standard window like a File Explorer window but reduced to about 50% scale so that the text and all the ikons are tiny and it's almost impossible to read or to navigate anywhere. My monitor is a 27" LG 4K. If you have any ideas I would be very grateful. All other windows in all other apps are normal size.

Sorry but I am a Mac user & don't know anything about the scaling or other display options for Windows.

Hopefully, a Windows user can help you figure out what's ha[ppening & how to fix it.

What happens with those APh save/open windows in contrast to other APh GUI panels size wise, if you temporary change the system "Display Resolution" to a lower value setting than the LG's full 4k resolution?

Thanks. Interesting suggestion and one of those random things that sometimes works but sadly not this time. I reduced the scale from 200% to 100% and the open window strangely stayed the same small size.

That's not what I suggested to tryout, instead ...

Sorry, tried this and doesn't seem to work.

Meaning? - That you can't change the resolution to use on the external monitor/display (aka to use different Win system output resolutions), or that it doesn't affect the APh GUI sizes of the panels here?

It doesn't change the size of the dialogue box (panel). But I've given up and started using a workaround, which is to drag the panel over to the to the other, lower resolution monitor, where it displays at the correct size. This is good enough for me and I have better things to do than mess around finding a correct solution and I'm happy with that. Maybe Affinity will sort this out sometime. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Looks like the panels have a fixed size and don't resize dynamically then without an implicite display resolution change. - Ah Ok so you are using a multi-monitor setup.

Possibly any forbidden words in it? I can't find any

In such cases (specific characters which aren't allowed, or do puzzle the forum software for postings ...) you can try to place the stuff instead into a quote, or code section, which are usually not that restricted and prone to such things.

Thanks for that tip, but even that didn't work. Can't really imagine what in my post should be forbidden. Maybe it is simply a bad tip. Sorry, it seems that I can't help.

Possibly google "GDI-Scaling on Windows".

As a last resort, compose your answer in the forum reply editor or a text editor, take a screenshot of that, & post that as an attachment.

Or it might save you a lot of frustration if you PM'ed one of the staff to see if they can explain why you get the 'forbidden' error.

Yes, that may be an option, but I don't know if it's worth it. It only happens here in this thread, with this certain post. And I don't know if the OP is still interested.

In the worst case, just before you hit Submit, take a screen shot and post that. If you're getting the 403 error you're including something that's triggering a security check. Probably something that looks like an SQL or PHP command.

Isn't that the same suggestion I posted earlier?
