3 Feature Requests for Affinity Photo and Publisher.

Recommended Posts

Hello, Serif team! Here are some feature requests for Affinity apps:

  • Affinity Photo: Add the capability of seeing missing fonts with Font Manager. It’s a feature in Publisher but not Photo. (Window>Font Manager)
  • All apps: Add the ability to sync saved Studio Presets (and perhaps other global settings) with my affinity account, the cloud, or iCloud; or at least make it easier to understand how to export and import those to other devices I use.
  • Affinity Photo and Publisher: Please add a “rotate 90º right” and “rotate 90º left” button to the View menu bar. It would be faster than clicking rotate left 6 times just to get to 90º. It’s something I’d use every day.

Forgive me if some were already posted, I searched and didn’t see anyone mention those.

Thank you so much for all the great work you’ve been doing. Have a great day.

Layer > Transform > Rotate Left, Rotate Right

You can assign keyboard shortcuts to them if you like.

It's also really easy to rotate 90 degrees by dragging the rotation handle with Shift held down - that will constraint it to 15 degree increments so it's easy to get to it 90.

That's the Rotate function from the Layer menu, Mike, but the OP wants the Rotate from the View menu.

Sorry.

So instead choose View > Rotate > Rotate Left, Rotate Right or assign a keyboard shortcut.

And that's limited to 15-degrees at a time, leading to this request to allow rotation by 90 degrees.

The Mac version of Publisher (1.10 and 2.2) rotates in 90 degree increments. Designer and Photo rotate in 15 degree increments. Help for Publisher states 15 degree increments so it's a bug although I prefer 90, too. What does Publisher for Windows do?

This would be a good case for the macOS Option modifier. The commands could be named Rotate Left 15º normally but with Option held down the name could change to Rotate Left 90º or vice versa. And however that's handled on Windows.

I had never noticed that Publisher is different from Designer and Photo for View > Rotate, but it is, and matches what happens on macOS. Thanks.

Correct!

That would be a good option! (No pun intended) I need to rotate 90º more often than 15º. This could also be available in settings, but would be nicer to either have two buttons, or the hold down option/control alternative.
