Creating the index in Microsoft Word versus Affinity Publisher – best practice

Recommended Posts

I'm at the stage where  II am looking to create the index for my book.

However, I'm not sure whether I should use Affinity's indexing function after I place the main Microsoft Word text into Affinity Pub, or try instead to create the index in the Microsoft Word program I am using – and then try to import it. Does anybody have any experience and any advice regarding the relative advantages/disadvantages for either method?

And does the index function import smoothly from Microsoft Word  into Affinity?  I am using Affinity v1.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you so much!

Index marks import fine from Microsoft Word so you can do it either way. You'll have to delete the index itself which will be imported as plain text and replace it with an index generated by Publisher but that's okay.
