strange symbol at the end of a text in affinity designer

hi guys can someone tell me how to remove that SS symbol that I get in the text 😅

That's the "end of story" symbol. You can simply ignore it, but if you don't want to see it, try turning off Text > Show Special Characters.

I am surprised that it's showing up for Artistic Text, as (I think) it's really only useful for Frame Text, and then its real purpose is with Linked Text Frames, which are a Publisher function.

The end of story symbol is the only way you know where the text ends if there is trailing white space so it does serve a purpose for all text objects.
