FSB67
There is a feature I use consistently. I would use the eyedropper to sample colors outside of the program's UI. On this new version or 2.2 update, the feature does not work on my Mac Studio with two screens. It works on my MacBook. Has anyone run into this problem? Old Bruce
Your Mac Studio may not have the Security and Privacy settings to allow the Affinity applications to "Record" the Mac's screen. FSB67
I checked that. The eye-dropper worked fine before the update. I uninstalled the software. Check the screen recording feature. It is still not working. Previously, the computer or app would give me an alert to turn it on. So, I know it's on.

As I mentioned previously, I had no issues before this update. It works on my Macbook but not my Mac Studio. I uninstalled. Removed from screen recording. Reapplied screen recording. Not working. I would try a previous version but I don't know where to access one.
Staff Callum Posted September 27, 2023 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2023 Typically what has been suggested would fix this issue please could you provide a screen recording showing what happens when you try to use the colour picker? Out of interest does disabling Metal Compute in the apps performance preferences change this behaviour at all? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. I can float/select colors within the layout or design area but not outside. Staff Callum Posted September 27, 2023 Staff Share Posted September 27, 2023 If you navigate to the apps preferences under performance you should find a tickbox for metal compute acceleration please try turning this off. Do you use any screen overlay software at all and if so does disabling it solve this issue? I have a feeling something like that may be the cause here as I've not seen any other reports of this. Yumvio
I am experiencing the exact same issue with Affinity Designer 2.2.0 on my 2021 M1 Max Macbook Pro running Ventura 13.0.1. I tried all the suggestions in this thread like turning on the Screen Recording permissions and turning off metal compute acceleration but it still doesn't work. I think the issue is that the color picker isn't detecting any colors outside of the canvas. In the video I've attached, if you click and drag the eyedropper outside of the canvas, the RGB values are always 255,255,255. But once it's inside the canvas the RGB values accurately reflect the color that I'm hovering over. Can you please fix this? This bug is crippling my workflow so I'm about to just uninstall 2.2.0 and revert back to the previous version so I can actually get some work done. Yumvio
5 hours ago, Oufti said: With only one screen (MacBookPro M1), I also don't have this problem on Monterey… Yes you guys are right. I was using an external monitor hooked up to my MacBook when I observed the bug, but the color picker seems to work fine when using the MacBook built in screen. It also works correctly when using a second monitor as an extended screen, but as soon as I close my MacBook so that the external monitor becomes the only screen, it stops functioning properly. Also, a related bug but maybe separate from the initial issue in this thread is that even when the color picker appears to be working properly with the built-in MacBook screen, it still doesn't recognize that the space outside of the canvas is not white. In Affinity Designer 1 it says the space immediately surrounding the canvas has an RGB of 34,34,34, but in 2.2 it's 255,255,255.
