I attempted to search the forum and online but could not find this answer.

Does anyone know where these macros get stored into if its a path? If not I know I can export the current macro which is fine but for knowledge base wise I'd like to know.

Also is there a bug in the Photo 2.2 when creating/recording a macro and saving it saves the file extension of *.afmacro without the "s" at the end, and even if you add it and attempt to import it states its not a valid macro... This may be a end user issue haha but maybe someone can clarify that, and how to import it back once saved.

Which is correct even it might look puzzling, as there is a difference between a Macro (*.afmacro file) and Libraries (*.afmacros file) here. See related ...

*.afmacro files imported via the macro panel
*.afmacros files are imported via the libraries panel

On macOS APh v1 from MacApp Store these are stored in a macros.propcol file under ...

  • ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto/Data/Library/Application Support/user/macros.propcol

... so in a user related APh library path.

Under APh V2.2 I would expect those to be then instead placed in a macros.propcol file under the users home ".affinity/..." path.

The FAQ shows were the various .propcol files are stored:

I know where macros are located within the application, and none of the replies show where they are physically located in the hard drive.

In Affinity Photo, where are macros stored on the hard disk of a Windows 11 PC? I want to back them up in one go instead of having to export the individual groups.
I have tried searching in File Explorer for afmacro under my user profile, but couldn't find anything.

Any help will be much appreciated.

The paths have changed for most of the additional content.

For MSIX installations enter (c&p) %userprofile%/.affinity/common/2.0/user in the file explorer path line.

For MSI/Exe installations the path is %appdata%/Affinity/Common/2.0/user

All additional (common) content is stored here in .propcol files.

Hello, thanks for your reply.

So the file I'm looking for is macros.propcol?

Therefore you don't see the individual macros just the collection in the file macros.propcol

So if I was to back this file up, I could add it at a later date if I re-built my Windows PC?

Yes, but you should back up the entire shared folder. This folder also contains the licensing information.
