Thanks for your report @artnok!

I can confirm this is a known issue that our team are aware of, whereby the default shortcut is not assigned as expected.

As mentioned above, resetting the Shortcuts to the 'Serif Defaults' should return this shortcut for you.

I hope this helps :)

Hi @Dan C

I'm having a similar issue but resetting the Serif Defaults isn't working. See below - I assign CMD + "left/right arrow" to rotate an object left or right 90 degrees:

Also tried quitting the application and reopening but the issue still persists.

Thanks very much!

Thanks for your report @Maxdanger!

I can confirm this is a separate issue from that being discussed above, as simply the Delete shortcut is not set for some users by default, and setting this shortcut to Backspace then correctly triggers the shortcut when used.

However I can see from your recording that the shortcut is set for this Rotate action, simply isn't being triggered when pressed.

I've tried this here, setting the same actions to CMD + Left/Right arrow key & both of these work as expected for me, rotating the object when triggered.

Can you please confirm for me:

  • What version of macOS are you running?
  • What keyboard are you using?
  • Are you using the M1 MbP as covered in your forum signature?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi @Dan C

  • What version of macOS are you running? - Sonoma 14.0
  • What keyboard are you using? - the laptop's built in keyboard
  • Are you using the M1 MbP as covered in your forum signature? - Yes confirm I am

I have a feeling this may be a Sonoma issue as this isn't a new shortcut for me and I was using it without issue on Ventura with v2.2.

Let me know if I can provide anything else (also feel free to move this to a new thread if it's a separate issue 🙂)

Thanks for confirming that for me!

I can verify that our team have identified this issue and it appears to occur after updating to macOS Sonoma.

I've logged this as a bug with our developers and we'll work to have this resolved ASAP, as unfortunately I don't believe reverting to an older version of Affinity will resolve this, our apologies for any inconveniences caused in the meantime.

I hope this helps :)

The issue "(After upgrading) Backspace is not functional until assigned on Mac" (REF: AF-287) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.1.2052".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Hi @Dan C

Can I just check that this is still on the developers' radar? I just updated to v2.2.1 and I'm still unable to assign CMD+"right/left arrow" to rotate a layer. It assigns but it doesn't function.

Thanks very much
