Hi 

every time i try to open a picture file jpeg or raw affinity photo and designer both crash.

windows 11 

hardware acceleration on or off have the same effect

any time i open any files it crashes both designer and photo ( publisher opens fine if i switch to the photo persona and or designer )

Are there any crash reports? If so could you please attach the latest to your next post?

Welcome to the forums @paulofigueira

typically, when there are issues with the app freezing/hanging/crashing when creating a new document or open an existing file this indicates an issue with your graphics card or graphics card drivers. I would  suggest doing a clean install (if possible) of your graphics card drivers to the latest version, I have linked the driver search tools below dependant on your card model. One you have them installed, reboot your PC and try again. 

If it still freezes/crashes, try doing a complete uninstall of your graphics card drivers using a dedicated tool for this purpose (Such as DDU linked below) and then restart and install your graphics card drivers (using the links above to search) to completely refresh them.  

 Failing that, as Ron mentioned it would be beneficial if you could provide us with a few crash reports if there are any available.
