Delete layers from imported ai and psd files in Affinity Photo and/or Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

Hi,
There a graphic designer who has created many illustrations for me. I received five different files every time, among them ai and psd. When I needed to delete a background I opened either the ai or the psd file in either Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer, deleted the layer and saved the files. It took only seconds and I had not given it much thought up to now. Today is the first time, that I need to do exactly that since I installed the versions 2, and I cannot get this simple thing done. Neither Affinity Designer nor Photo show all layers and it is impossible to delete any of them. Just all or nothing.
I could use the clipping tool, but to be honest I don't feel like it, it's a lot more work and I wonder if the simple solution can be found anywhere else than the layers menu.

Hi @johnjohn,

Which operating system are you running Affinity on?  Can you attach one of the PSD files and one the Ai files you are opening or upload them to our Dropbox here? I know with the Ai files, we do open the embedded PDF so that could explain for some of the issues you are having.  I'll know more once i can see whats in the files :)
