SondraF Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 When opening a password protected pdf file, no data comes through, even when the correct password is used. I did not encounter this problem before upgrading to v2.2. Help please!!! Quote
Hangman Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Hi @SondraF and welcome to the forums, If the file in question is a PDF 1.3 file that uses 40-bit RC4 encryption then I suspect this is a known bug, logged as AF-20. You can check using Acrobat Reader by going to File > Properties. Under the Description tab, it will show the version number and under the Security tab, clicking the 'Show Details' (if enabled) button will show the encryption applied to the pdf. SondraF Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Thank you @Hangman! The PDF version is actually 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x). The 'Show Details' button wasn't enabled so I couldn't see what, if any, encryption was applied. I guess we just have to wait for another update?!? Also, I didn't affirmatively specify, but I was working in Designer. Quote
Hangman Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Hi @SondraF, Thanks for the update… the issue you're seeing seems particular to 40-bit RC4 encryption, I've just tested it with a pdf 1.6 file and the issue is the same so I very much suspect that is the issue you are experiencing here with the blank page/s. It's easy to decrypt the file if you don't particularly need to maintain the password. Removing the password should then allow you to open the file with everything displayed as it should be, i.e., without the blank pages. SondraF Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 Thanks @Hangman! I'll give that a shot... Hangman 1 Quote
