A small naming error emerged in the Publisher > Document keyboard shortcuts. The item Add pages... (with the dialog box) does not exist in Publisher 2.2.0 on Windows 10. The names of the shortcuts for inserting master pages and regular pages don't all correspond to the correct action.

Hi, an issue with this window was reported yesterday by another user - the new Previously View Page command is missing from this shortcuts list so Serif is already looking int this. What you're seeing is presumably a related issue.

Hi @Intuos5,

The 'Document' menu shortcuts are context based, so if you have a master page currently selected and go to the 'Document' menu you will see that the 'Add pages...' option is not there. If you then open the Settings > Shortcuts > Documents menu with a master page still selected it will show the context based shortcuts for the master page document menu.

If you select a standard page instead, you will then see that the 'Document' menu options change as well as the Settings > Shortcuts > Document to be page based settings, including the 'Add Pages...' option.

Ah, I see. Thanks @NathanC for pointing this out.

That's an odd design choice. Far from obvious that this is the case.
It takes 5 clicks to get to the other option for the master or pages respectively.

Are there other places in the software where this context sensitive keyboard shortcuts thing occurs?

Not that I can think of, but I would agree it's a tad unusual that it has caught me out before.

Feel free to Drop a post in feedback if you think there's a better way these shortcuts can be handled. 🙂

Well, considering these shortcuts aren't mutually exclusive, why not show both page and masterpage items and add a separator + header for both in the shortcuts list? If all shortcuts are listed, it becomes unclear why there aren't any conflicts.

Though I fear that there now is a need to create a context sensitive (modal) keyboard shortcut manager just to accomodate what is now an edge case.

It's not quite the same thing, but if I remember correctly the Shortcut for Undo in the Shortcuts Settings changes its name, depending on the action to be undone.

@NathanC On macOS the Shortcuts editor is identical regardless of whether a master page or document page is selected, so Mac users can't set shortcuts for Add Master, Delete Master, First Master, Previous Master, Next Master, Last Master, or Go to Master. It was like this in v1, too. I don't think this is hugely important as most users would never want to set shortcuts for them and I'd rather have the Mac behaviour than Windows because it's less confusing.

I didn't label these screenshots for master and document pages because they really are identical.
