System requirements

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • Mac with Apple M1 chip or Intel processor
  • OS X Mavericks 10.9 or later (Supported up to macOS Big Sur 11.0)
  • 2 GB RAM
  • <2.8 GB of available hard-disk space*
  • 1280 x 768 display or better

* additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices).

Metal compute acceleration requires macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later

Registration and content sync feature requires macOS Sierra 10.12 or above.

Some user from the forum here running M1/M2 hardware & Ventura should be able to tell you for more sure, if APh v1 runs well on such Mac silicon systems.

I have a new Macbook Air arriving soon, M2 chip, macOS 13 (Ventura).
Will Affinity Photo V1 run on this, or do I need to upgrade?

I've installed v1 on a new MBA 15" and haven't noticed any major issues yet. However, of course now I mostly use v2.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
