Unable to launch Designer or Publisher since update 2.2.0

Hello,

I performed the 2.2 update this afternoon, and since then, Designer and Publisher no longer launches correctly. Either they close unexpectedly or I face an activation window where I can't log in ("Please try again in a moment"). I have already tried to run it as administrator, without success...

I saw that other users were having the exact same problem, but without a solution yet... Does anyone have a solution to suggest?

Thanks !

If that's still happening, you might try the suggestions in the FAQ:

I have the same issue. Didn't get a good answer yet.

Now, I can only run designer as administrator, but it's uncomfortable working like that. You can't drag anything to designer.

I have exactly the same issue too, unable to drag a file on Designer or Publisher to open it… I tried to contact Serif support, but they are mute, unfortunately…

Let me know if you find something !

I think I have found a "solution" : I uninstalled Affinity and Publisher (from the Windows 11 Apps settings panel, then I checked if there was any other version remanining in the old Control Panel). Then I went on my account on the Serif Affinity store, then on the Licenses and downloads tab, and I scrolled down to the MSI versions of the installers.

Oddly, installing Designer and Publisher with these old MSI installers fixed the problem, both are launching without crash and no more activation problem is occuring... It's a DIY solution, but it works, until the bug is fixed

Hi Echoprint,

thank you for sharing your fix here on the forums as it should help anyone else who see's this issue. @yonid if possible could you try the fix Echoprint mentioned above?

Thanks
C

I uninstalled it. Restarted my machine. Installed it with the MSI installer.

It started but crashed within 5 seconds. I restarted my machine again, and now I have the same issue with activation. :(

Hi @Callum, and thanks for the assistance.

I tried relaunching Designer again. Now, it's not asking for an activation code. But it closed 10-15 seconds after it launched.

But now Affinity Photo with an older version Is asking me for activation. And I didn't have any issues with it before the update, and I didn't update it.

So, I removed all the programs. Photo, Designer, and publisher. I installed only designer using the MSI installer. Now it's closing after 10-15. This is the best I have reached so far.

after that, I tried the troubleshooting guide. Not working for me. Tried clearing everything with the CTRL button. Now its asking me again for activation, but now after 10 seconds, it closes itself.

Any other suggestion?

That's weird, Affinity and Publisher works perfectly on my PC since then...

Could you re-try to uninstall, then delete the Affinity folder in the roaming folder (C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Affinity) and try to reinstall with the MSI installers ?

Believe me I tired it all.

It's working now. I updated it in my last comment.
