kdock Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Received this error for Publisher and Designer upgrades to 2.2. But NOT for Photo 2.2 I believe it was triggered by a command to open the program after the update. The upgrades were all successful, as far as I can tell. Quote
Dan C Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Hi @kdock, Thanks for your report and I'm sorry to see you're having trouble! This error message usually appears when the Permissions for the 'Windows Apps' folder is not set correctly, or the user is trying to manually access/edit these files. Can you please confirm for me, were you installing the update through the Affinity app directly, or did you manually download the MSIX update file outside of the app and then attempted to install the update? Are you able to launch the Affinity V2 apps, and if so do you see '2.2.0' in the dialog that appears when navigating to Help > About within the app? Many thanks in advance Quote
kdock Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Hi @Dan C, I opened each app and was prompted to update. I did Photo first, no error message appeared, and the program opened on its own. I confirmed that it had updated to 2.2.0. I then opened Designer, was prompted, and at the end the attached error appeared (though it referred to Designer). I cleared it, opened Designer, and confirmed that it had updated to 2.2.0. Lastly, I opened Publisher, was prompted, and at the end the attached error appeared. Again cleared it, opened Publisher, and confirmed that it had updated to 2.2.0. So, all apps launch without incident. One last bit of info. I had updated Designer and Photo to 2.1.1 previously and didn't receive an error message. Publisher initially prompted me to update to 2.1.1 , which I did without incident. But when I updated to 2.2.0, I received the error. 🤔 I sent the message just so you knew it happened. As you already know, the Affinity apps are installed in the Windows apps folders. I keep my distance from them. 😄 I did purchase through Affinity initially as I also like to keep my distance from the Windows Store. 😁 So I'm not certain why Photo was able to open on its own, but not Designer and Publisher. It definitely felt like a permissions issue, but since it installed properly, I'm happy. K Quote
Dan C Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Thanks for confirming that for me - I'm glad to hear that the updates have been installed for the apps, albeit with the error message shown. This isn't something that we've seen occur previously and I've attempted the update process here in the office once again today with the MSIX versions of the apps and I'm not seeing the same error messages/warnings. Therefore I am hoping that this was a red herring and the errors should hopefully not appear again for you, though of course we may not know until the next Affinity app update is released. I sincerely doubt this error will have any negative affect on your Affinity app installation, but should you notice any issues or see the same error message when updating to the next version in due course, please don't hesitate to let us know here kdock 1 Quote
kdock Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Thanks @Dan C. At this point I don't anticipate any issues. BTW, I also updated my iPad apps and it went fine. And thanks @anto. Normally the in-app upgrade process works smoothly, but it's good to know I have other options. K Dan C 1 Quote
