graphicwolf83 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 First a little background, my devise is an iOS MacBook and my files usually live on iCloud. I will also mention that my projects are image heavy and usually linked to another Affinity file so I can get the printing options just right, since my final size is usually smaller than letter sized. My problem is that several of my files will give me preflight error messages when I try to export them into pdf. Attachment one: the linked file was created in Designer and then exported as a pdf to then be dropped into Designer for easy printing. Exported on the same device minutes before. (I will mention this seems to actually export okay. I'll have to see if it prints well). Attachment two: shows my links are missing. I get this message after I just import the file. The original file does live on iCloud and I is a different Designer file, but I made sure it was downloaded. Plus I did the same thing with another Designer file - this one smaller - and I got no error. Please help as this is not the first time I've gotten these errors on my file. I've also had similar issue on my iPad version. Thank you in advance. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted September 25, 2023 Staff Posted September 25, 2023 Welcome to the forums @graphicwolf83, In regards to the first error, this compatibility warning gets flagged up when a PDF file placed in your document as 'Passthrough' is not compatible with the PDF standard/version that has been set in the Preflight profile settings. I believe the 'Default' Preflight profile assumes you're exporting your document out as a PDF/X-1a:2003 standard, so by placing a PDF file which is incompatible with this this version will flag this error and tell you to 'Fix' it by setting it over to Interpret. If you're not planning to export out as a PDF/X document then this warning does not apply. You can create yourself a new Preflight profile via the Preflight panel's context menu (3 line burger menu in the panel), once you have created a new preflight profile, you can then edit it and under the 'PDF Passthrough' to either change the compatibility warning (To PDF 1.7, for example) or just disable the warning altogether. More info on preflight profiles: https://affinity.help/publisher2/English.lproj/pages/Publishing/preflight.html https://affinity.help/publisher2/English.lproj/pages/Panels/preflightPanel.html The second error is pretty self explanatory, if you're using linked instead of embedded resources in your document and the app can't find a link back to where the resources/images are kept, it will flag this as an error in the preflight panel. In the resource manager you should be able to re-link back to where the resources are kept, if they're also kept on icloud it may be easier to download these resources locally and then link to the local location.
