MaraB Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 My iPad did an automatic update for Affinity Designer 2 for the 2.2 update. When I opened the app ALL of my live documents were gone! What happened and is there any way to get them back? Quote
Dan C Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Hi @MaraB, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I can see you have also emailed the Affinity Support team regarding this, so we'll continue to support you directly there. I hope this helps! Quote
smellycat Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Hello, I have had the same issue with Affinity Photo - haven’t opened Affinity Designer in case this happens with that too Also, I continued uploading and working on new documents within Affinity Photo. It then crashed and again all the live documents I had open disappeared? The app does crash every now and then but once I reopen the file that it had crashed with, it’s at the latest saved position and all other files are usually still there. This is the first time where it’s crashed and all the files have disappeared. Is there a way to get these back please? Thanks Quote
Dan C Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Hi @smellycat, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & we're certainly sorry to hear this - our team are investigating possible causes of this internally as we're yet to replicate this on any of our iPads during the beta or release update process. 18 hours ago, smellycat said: I continued uploading and working on new documents within Affinity Photo. This isn't something I've seen being reported since the 2.2 release, so some further information here could certainly help our team. Can you please confirm for me, the Live Docs you had opened at the time this crash occurred, were these new documents created within the app, or an image/document that you had opened for editing? If the latter, what location were these files opened from please? ie a local folder on your iPad, an externally connected device, or a Cloud folder etc? 18 hours ago, smellycat said: Is there a way to get these back please? You may be able to recover your files using the following steps, though this will require access to a desktop PC: Download iMazing (only the free trial is needed) https://imazing.com/ • Connect your iPad to your computer • Make a backup of the iPad through iMazing • In the top right click the iPad's name and select the backup you've just made • Inside the folder Apps > Affinity Photo 2 > Library > Application Support > com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.ios > • Drag the Autosave folder to your desktop (iMazing trial allows 10 drag operations, so doing the folder will get all files exported at once) • Rename the files inside this folder from .autosave to .afphoto and then try opening these files (if you don't own Affinity on the desktop, you will need to transfer these back to the iPad to be opened, using a cloud service etc) Hopefully you are able to recover some of your files using this method - our sincerest apologies for any inconveniences caused due to this. laurabe Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 I've had the same issue. When Affinity Designer for iPad was updated, all my LiveDocs disappeared. I've brought them back by opening them (fortunately I had previously saved them in a local folder on my iPad), but every time I reopen the app, there are no documents in the LiveDocs section. Thanks! Dan C Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Hi @laurabe, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & we're certainly sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue also. During our internal and external testing of the iPad update, we've been unable to replicate this issue - however since release we've seen a few users reporting this issue, therefore we'd like some further information to try and determine the cause of this. Equally, yours is the first report of it's kind whereby documents are also not being retained, following this occurring. Therefore, can you please confirm for me: What iPad Model are you using? What version of iPadOS is installed? (and how recently did you update iPadOS, if known?) Under Settings > General > iPad Storage, how much free space do you have available? What filetype are you opening/importing in the iPad app, that do not stay open as a 'live doc'? (ie .afdesign, .PDF etc) When you mention 're-opening the app', are you closing the app fully, swiping the app when in multi-task view - or are you simply returning to the homescreen of your iPad, then returning to the Affinity app, where the file has not been retained? Are you running any 'Cleaning' apps on your iPad, that may be clearing temporary files? Alongside this information, we'd like to request a screen recording of the issue you're experiencing - showing the document being opened, the app being closed/reopened, and the document not being retained - as this may help our team to identify the cause of this. If you're unsure how to take a screen recording, please check out our FAQ linked below - Our sincerest apologies once again for any inconveniences caused due to this issue and we appreciate any information you can provide from the above questions. Many thanks in advance Quote
laurabe Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Thank you so much, @Dan C When I was preparing the info you asked me for, I realized I had a pending iPadOS update. Once the iPadOS is updated to version 17.0.2, the issue seems to have completely disappeared. So now everything works fine for me. Thanks again! Dan C 1 Quote

Dan C Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Welcome to the Affinity Forums @gabodoloroso & I'm certainly sorry to hear this.
