Your manual is a huge help and explains a lot of features which it would otherwise be difficult to fathom.

You rightly warn about the dreaded 'Content-scaling handle'. It is a nightmare feature which I would like to see much more difficult to implement. I have still not got to the bottom of bizarre behaviour with footnotes suddenly increasing hugely in size (9pt to 37.5pt).

Anyway thanks. I spotted a minor typo on Page 58 in the second to last sentence. See attached. 'Than' instead of 'That'

Cheers.

Mike - this seems like great information to have, but I cannot download it.  I click on the button and it goes nowhere.  Im I missing something?  And, even though I don't have it, thank you for the effort you have put into this project. I am new to Affinity - moving over from Adobe.

It should just download, like any other file on this site.

On rare occasions, I've had downloads on this site stall after downloading only a few bytes and then nothing else happens which is probably an issue with Amazon Web Services where this site is hosted. When this happens, I just try again later and then it works fine. So hopefully when you come back to the forum you'll be able to download it.

as MikeTO said, or you try to right click on the download link and choose "save as" from the context menu (depending what your OS/browser offers).:

Thankyou so much for this book! I have just switched from InDesign to Affinity Publisher and this book will help me get up to speed with the way Affinity does things differently. Much appreciated! :)

Thanks again for this great resource, Mike. Just used it to refresh my memory on how to manage a couple of things in AfPub.

Also - I've recently taken a look at the features coming in v2.6 that's currently in Beta, especially the "Advance Page Management" features - looks like yopu'll be updating the "Pages and Master Pages" section of your manual when v2.6 is released 😄

Yes, I will update this manual for 2.6 so come back here when 2.6 is released to download the updated PDF. Even for those not interested in multi-page spreads, the sections on pages and master pages have to be revised because there are so many changes to the Pages panel and various dialogs. I will also document the new Reading Order panel.

In addition to the new features, this edition will include sections on grids, guides, snapping, viewing, view points, measurement units, document presets, and an intro section on creating your first document.

Works fine here. Do you get an error message? You can also try to right click on the link and choose „save as“.

Thanks for the response, Mike. You've done a great job with the "Unofficial Manual" - I'm sure the nest edition will be even better!

And the Advanced Page Management features are going to be a great boon to me.

I would also like to express my thanks. Without wanting to say anything wrong now, I would still wish that there would always be versions for the iPad in the future 🫣 🥇

Clicking the 'dowload link' returns a blank page and, as best I can ascertain, nothing is dowloaded. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi and welcome to the forums. I just tried it and the download link worked for me. It was probably just a glitch with the forum so please try again. If it still doesn't work, try it with a second browser to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your prompt and helpul response. I moved from Chrome to Safari and it downloaded fine. Don't know why Chrome wasn't cooperating but I am not going to pursue it right now. I have other battles to wage... like reading this excellent looking Affinity Publisher manual you have provided.

Thanks again.

@MikeTO Just found this. It’s great, thanks, really appreciate it.

You're welcome. Come back to this thread when 2.6 is released, I'll share an expanded edition covering the new page management features as well as some other features I hadn't written about before.

New version available for Publisher 2.6: I have uploaded a new 390-page edition of this unofficial Publisher manual to the first post of this thread. This edition has new sections for multi-page spreads, the reading order panel, guides, grids, snapping, and other features.

Most of the features are the same for Designer or Photo so you will find it useful for them, too.
