JS123 Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I've found websites that can do LaTex to SVG, but I would like to add that font directly from Affinity Designer. Is this possible? It's really inconvenient having to save SVG and place it every time I want something new. Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Can you explain a bit more what you mean by a LaTeX font? JS123 Posted September 14, 2023 Author Posted September 14, 2023 Thanks for the question, I should clarify. LaTex is used for typesetting. It's similar to Microsoft Word in that it's used for writing documents, but it is written more like a script or coding. For instance, if I wanted to do the letter D with subscript x, I would just put $D_x$. I believe the actual font used is typically Computer Modern. I would like to keep the font used on my figures the same as the font used in my document, so I'm currently having to use a "LaTex to SVG" generator online. I specify the font size there and just paste it into AD. The thing is, I cannot modify the font size or the actual text if I wish to once I generate it. I have to go to the website, generate a new word, save it, place it in some folder in case I need to use it in the future, then place it in my document. It's not the end of the world, but very annoying to have to do for a lot of figures. Quote
v_kyr Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 See LaTeX fonts as ttf. - What you can of course do instead is to ... use one and the same font type (TTF) for LaTeX and ADe here or instead do all for the SVG graphics based drawing in ADe. So do convert in ADe used/entered text to curves befor exporting it all as SVG Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
walt.farrell Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 There are fonts derived from Computer Modern that you might consider installing. For example, CMU available at https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/computer-modern If you have a choice between a Variable and a Static version, make sure you choose the Static one.
