When in Pixel Mode of Affinity Designer, when basic brush is selected with Alternate: Erase option, the alternate erasing doesn't remove 100% of the image even when flow, hardness, opacity set to 100%. This requires multiple passes to fully erase a given pixel, which is infuriating for pixel work. Not sure how else to reset the pixel brush back to an actual binary pixel tool, ie draws at 100% color, erases 100% color. Seems when you select any other brush there is no way to get back to the original state of the pixel tool.

Perhaps you have Wet Edges set to On, in the Context Toolbar? Depending on your screen/window size it might be hiding behind the >> icon on the right edge.

Also, do you mean the Paint Brush Tool in the Pixel Persona or the Pixel Brush Tool? That's unclear to me from your description.

yup, it was the Pixel Brush Tool from within the Pixel Persona, I just had to create my own new square brush and turn off wet edges to off explicitly from within the brush settings, there is no web edges option in the tool bar. I have an ultra wide monitor so there is nothing off screen hiding. Sig,h i feel like there should be a default pixel brush in the basic brushes, having to jump through extra hoops to get back to where you were is not great. But I did solve it for myself, Thanks!

You're welcome.

think the built-in solution for you will depend on your Assistant Settings, specifically the Brush Sharing options. If you don't share brushes between tools, then you would be able to just choose the Pixel Brush Tool and pick a brush. If you are sharing brushes between tools, then if you had previously had Wet Edges on, it might remain on. In that case, perhaps you could:

  1. Select the Paint Brush Tool.
  2. Select a brush, and make sure Wet Edges is off.
  3. Select the Pixel Brush Tool.

(I am speculating here; I have not tried this with the various Assistant Settings to confirm, yet.)
