Opening New Page For Selections

Recommended Posts

Not sure what you mean by multiple selections open. Do you mean multiple objects selected on one page or something else?

Also which Affinity app are you using? The mention of pages suggests APub but it is always a good idea to mention which app (& version) you are using.

I’m currently using Affinity Designer 2 on a pc.  What I’m wondering is if there is a way for me to select multiple layers, and have those layers open up in their own separate page. Without me having to copy and paste each individual layer one at a time and paste onto a new page.  I hope that makes better sense.

Affinity Designer can't create pages, but you can select multiple layers in an Affinity Designer document, copy them to the clipboard, & then use File > New from Clipboard to open a new untitled document with just those elements in it, if that is what you mean.

There are also ways to use multiple Artboards in one AD document as an analog of creating separate pages in one AD document.

Yes. To select various objects in the Layers Panel use the Move Tool, press the CTRL key + click-select the layers. To select them in the main/layout window press the SHIFT key + click-select them.

No, not in the same document. Instead you would copy (or cut) them + paste them on a new artboard. Since you may select multiple objects + copy or cut all of them together you may paste them in 1 step. Therefore you need to create a new artboard first and paste the objects from the clipboard while the new artboard is selected.

If you have several objects selected you can create a new artboard in the size of the bounding box of currently selected objects via the menu option "Size: Selection" in the Context Toolbar.

Just to muddy the waters...

If, and only if, the "selections"/"layers" are embedded Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher documents then yes. A simple double click will do so. But otherwise ... no.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Are you sure about that? Aside from the differences between pages, documents, & artboards, if two or more embedded Affinity documents are selected, would they all open in the same new page/artboard/document, or would each of them open in a separate one?
