Studios cannot be accessed using te mouse or pentables

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

First of all, I have translated this text from a translation programme into English, so hopefully my question is clear. 😊

When I work in (any suite) of Affinity, it happens regularly that I can no longer access the studios, tools and toolbar with the mouse, or my pen. With shortcuts, the default tools can still be selected, but nothing else works. I can still select and/or edit parts of my work with the mouse or pen, provided I can access the desired tool with a shortcut. But this is not workable.

After I restart, the programme usually works correctly again, until the next crash. I have not yet been able to figure out what exactly the trigger is. Sometimes I work on a project for a long time without any problems, sometimes the programme crashes one time after another.

Are you familiar with this problem, and most importantly, do you know what to do about it?

Tnx in advance for your response.

Welcome to the forums @Sandra van Ophemert,

Are you on Windows? If so check that 'Enable Pointer Support' is disabled under Preferences > User Interface. If it's enabled, turn it off, close the interface and restart the app when prompted to. There's a known issue caused by switching programs and then switching back will cause a complete UI lockout to no longer recognise mouse inputs if 'Pointer Support' is enabled, which sounds somewhat similar to what you've described here.

Once the setting has been turned off see if this fixes the issue going forward.
