adrianlambert Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 This is particularly for Affinity Photo V2. I keep trying to take this app seriously - it is a seriously capable app of course but I get in a flow with PS which I can't do with AP2 because the app stops me from time to time.
NotMyFault Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Maybe this ? https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/pages/ExportPersona/exportPersona.html (Optional) On the Slices panel, select Continuous if you want to automatically re-export export areas if the document is subsequently changed. This option is only available if Export Slices (n) was selected above. Goodby Forum, thanks for good discussion and so much support from great peers and Affinity staff. It was a great pleasure to be part of this fantastic community. After 03.10.2025 find me on https://creofora.com
adrianlambert Posted September 7, 2023 Author Posted September 7, 2023 Not that. In the background means that we can continue to use the software whilst the software is completing other tasks such as exporting a file.
NotMyFault Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Continuous export does exactly this. It will export in background while you continue to edit. adrianlambert Posted September 7, 2023 Author Posted September 7, 2023 I can't find anything about this in the user manual or with a google search. Can you be more clear about this?
adrianlambert Posted September 7, 2023 Author Posted September 7, 2023 Unless you are talking about automatically exporting slices which is not what I'm talking about.

NotMyFault Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Just now, adrianlambert said: Unless you are talking about automatically exporting slices which is not what I'm talking about. Well, then please explain what is the difference between an export of the default full document slice and what you think a different continuous export should do. adrianlambert Posted September 7, 2023 Author Posted September 7, 2023 no, you are way over complicating this. I just want to open a bunch of PSD files, edit one, save it, and continue working on the next without any delay. I have to wait about 5 seconds whilst it thinks about it.

AFAIK only the batch/bulk processing option offers some parallel processing here, other common app tasks not. ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
adrianlambert Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 I don't want to batch process - it's usually around 12 - 18 images all with different requirements. So it's very frustrating!
Porpho Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I was looking for the same feature. It's simply Ctrl-S your current document and the save happens without blocking you. You can continue to edit the document while the program saves it in the background. The corollary of this, is Auto-save, which is also a great feature to have in AP.
