SVG with FX not importing into Silhouette Cameo

Recommended Posts

So I've had a similar problem before with this cameo software, but I've mostly resolved it by making sure everything is a curve before exporting. Now I've noticed anything that doesn't import has an fx on it or is attached to it somehow. If you look at my first photo and the rectangle curve I have selected you can see that the 'erase' fx is on it so I can add names into the center. I'm thinking it's a problem with compatibility between the two softwares, but wondering if anyone else has come across this.

Most fx will cause rasterisation on export. If you open the svg in a text editor you may find something like
<image id="_Image1" width="2228px" height="1346px" xlink:href="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0-----QmCC"/>
Cameo probably expects vector data and cannot process bitmaps

FX effects aren't needed at all in order to create that logo/vector drawing here, omit using FX effects for plain vector drawings if you want to export everything as plain vectors without any rasterization here! - The rectangle gap can be created easily by a geometric subtract instead and therefor no FX effect and so any rasterization is needed.
