Repeatdly changing from Brush tool to Eraser tool [Affinity Photo v2.2.0]

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Recently I have been experiencing an odd bug: While using the Brush Tool, the tool changes to the Eraser tool after I Toogle Fill Context (chang the colours by pressing [x] ), using the color picker [Alt shortcut] or sometimes even at random

Each time I press the Brush Tool shortcut [B], it also alternates between the Eraser and Brush tool.

My shortcuts are the default for the software.

Is there anyway to fix this issue? it has been hampering my work for some days now.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

This is a known issue in the 2.2 beta release, and if you're intentionally using the beta you should discuss this problem in the beta section of the forums.

On the other hand, it's possible you accidentally updated to 2.2 when it was briefly made available as an update to the retail release.

If you're intentionally running the beta a Moderator can move this to the right forum area for you.

I just updated to the newest verion via the app when starting it. I did not know it was still a beta.

How recently? As I understand it, 2.2 was only available for a few hours several weeks ago.

I can´t remember when I updated it, but I am using the version 2.2.0; Since I work with Affinity basically everyday, that might have been during this small window.

I read in the link you sent me that the file will not open in previous version...so I think I will be stuck if I roll back. Is there a way I could save a file and open it in the previous version without losing/merging/altering aspects of it?

No.

You can try Opening a file in 2.2, Copying items, and pasting into a new document in 2.1.1. That will work for some things, but not everything.

By the way, the discussion over in the beta forum about the known issue with tool switching starts here, I think, if you're interested in reading it:

The issue "Using long press shortcuts can cause brush resize to switch between two tools" (REF: PD-981) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.0.1994".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
