gskidmark
Hello everybody. I am trying to expand a stroke using Layer > Expand Stroke. The object is a curve, not a shape. The curve has a 6 pt stroke, set to "Align stroke to center". When I expand the stroke, some of the squared edges become rounded. Any idea how I can make it stay squared? R C-R
I do not seem to be able to duplicate that problem on my Mac but it might help if you could attach a file with this unexpanded curve in it so we can see what happens on other computers. Also, please let us know which Affinity app & OS version you are using. BlueLiner
I redrew it by tracing your with the pen tool and set the stroke to 6PT as well. Mine looks a little thinner though but I tried at 14pt as well and I could not recreate it. I have attached my file. I used the following stroke settings: StrokeTest.afdesign
Return
It usually get's better by using a larger amount for the miter setting in the stroke panel.

But wouldn't that just affect the curvature of the corners of the original curve, rather than what happens when Expand Stroke is used? gskidmark
I'm attaching my file here. I tried setting the Miter higher and lower but the results are the same. I am using Affinity Designer 2.2.1 on Mac 13.5.1 EDIT: Having trouble uploading the file in the bowser. Here is a Dropbox link to the file. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/7zp2hyeyecvfd1f2q2fto/NM-shape-stroke-test.afdesign?rlkey=0209ni3r8gi4sbmi1tu2soe2x&dl=0 NM-shape-stroke-test.afdesignNM-shape-stroke-test.afdesign Edited September 6, 2023 by gskidmark Added Dropbox link

gskidmark
I was unable to add my AFD file without getting some strange error. I am adding a Dropbox link instead. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/7zp2hyeyecvfd1f2q2fto/NM-shape-stroke-test.afdesign?rlkey=0209ni3r8gi4sbmi1tu2soe2x&dl=
Old Bruce
You have a weird little pair of handles on the corner node. I selected it and converted it to a Sharp node then all was well. I changed the colour of the stroke so the node and its handles would be clearer. All of those handles are very short & almost impossible to see unless zoomed in very far like to around 13000%.
