Affinity Publisher 2 Best Approach to Adding or Deleting Pages in Book

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't see anything that really matched what I wanted to ask in a search.

I  have a left page master in my book. It has a 1/2" outside margin, a 3/4" inside margin and 3/4" top and bottom. I also have a title frame on top left and a page number bottom center.

I  also have a left page master in my book. It has a 1/2" outside margin, a 3/4" inside margin and 3/4" top and bottom. I also have an author frame on top left and a page number bottom center. BUT it keeps shifting the margins in the master, or on  the pages, as I add or delete pages. I have been ensuring that no text boxes are linked on any pages that I add, delete, or move.

I don't know how to keep this from happening. Any suggestions?

I have tried tweaking the document settings, but below is what I started with and what is set now. It seemed at the beginning that this was correct.

When I used InDesign in earlier years, I didn't see any issues like this, and I think the settings were similar. I know they are different programs, but I am only mentioning this because I want to note that I am not without some experience in this arena.

Based on what I have said, do you see anything I might be doing wrong, or is this an issue with Affinity Publisher 2 that is known about? I did see some posts about page layout issues while I was searching the forum, but not exactly this.

If you are going to be using Left and Right pages you will be best served by using Facing Pages for the Masters. Not Single Pages. Also a tip is to name each and every item (layer) on your Master Pages, use descriptive text such as Title and Author for the two frames and Page Number Left and Page Number Right for the page numbers.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks for taking time to reply. Do you think I can change the masters in the current book without making a mess of everything, or should I start a new book with the facing master and just copy and paste the text from the original book to the new one?

I was able to make the changes without having to start a new book. Thanks Bruce, for the help!
