Publisher V2 I need to create lots of documents based on the same set of master pages and assets

Recommended Posts

I want to check that I am working the best way.

I have two different desktops, ones is a surfacebook the other an actual PC. Most of my stuff is on onedrive so should be accessible to both machines.

I have created a file called 'bullseye kiln fired project master.aftemplate' In it I created 3 master pages and put in there the things that I want to fill in. I put that file in my affinpubtemplates. I set that as my template directory if i remember correctly. (although now im worried i might have only done it on one machine..)

I then create a new document and want to use that template but the new document interface doesnt seem to show how to pick up an existing template? So I seem to have to start affin pub 2 then open the template doc and then i have both pages and master pages...

Am i missing something?

I also seem to have lost my assets... I thought I had made them in my template, when i look under assets nothings there.

I have to admit I might done some of the work on the surfacebook and now working on my PC... could that mess things up? I cant remember if thats what i might have done. Sorry.

my templates wasnt set on the PC... but it still feels a bit weird that one does create on the template section. that feels like it should be creating a new template rather thana new document?

Still no assets though? Where do assets sit?

many thanks Anne

Your Assets live in the Assets panel, and in a file there that cannot be shared with your other system.  You could embed one or more Assets categories into your .aftemplate file from the Assets panel. But that will make that template larger, and embed them into all documents you create from the template, which probably isn't what you want.

You can export your Assets from the Assets panel on one machine as .afassets files, then transfer those files to the other machine and import them there (again from the Assets panel).
