Mac Photo 2: Why can't I paint on a new layer?

Recommended Posts

I created a new pixel layer, tried to paint but could not. it looks as though I'm uncovering something else tho...I appear to be thoroughly in the weeds with how Photo 2 handles painting. I checked channels and nothing appears to be blocking me. Am I missing something obvious? Oughtn't we be able to paint on a new layer?

Thank you

Not sure why your Blend Mode just shows Color instead of one of the usual color ones, but maybe try setting it to Normal to see if that makes any difference?

Hi VectorCat,
Clcik the round arrow on the top right of the Channel panel to enable all channels again. It should then work as you'd expect (only the composite alpha is enabled currently). You may also want to set the Blend Mode to Normal as R C-R mentioned.

Ah..that does work.  thank you!
