Astin Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Hi there, Is it there a limit of how many master pages I should have? Why am asking this ... I'm looking to create a PDF template for myself for an ePaper [nothing from internet fit my needs, unfortunately - already spent good money on trying to find] so I'll need to have 365 master pages for buttons Will this affect performance or is better to just copy those buttons on all pages [@1400 pages] ? MikeTO Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 You should be able to create 365 master pages for your 1400 pages. Putting the buttons on 1400 pages would result in many more copies of the images so master pages would reduce the resource needs. If the buttons are the only unique things on each master and the masters all share a basic layout I'd advise building a layout master with a picture frame for the button and then creating the 365 master pages for the unique buttons, adding the button image to the frame from the layout master. But creating 365 masters is a lot of work. If you're sure the buttons won't change you could just add the buttons to each page directly and forego the many master pages. Astin Posted August 22, 2023 Author Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) The buttons will remain same. Are same buttons on all pages why I cannot create a single master is that I need different hyperlinks on each page Can I do this with a master page [from what I saw, if I'll add a hyperlink to a button from a master page, it will remain as is for all pages where is applied]? Using edit detached is a better option for my needs? Edited August 22, 2023 by Astin Quote
v_kyr Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 That's a plain question for the "Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)" forum section, but no resource at all, thus has to be moved by a Mod to the other (right) forum section! Using edit detached is a better option for my needs? No, you can't do this with a master page. Masters allow you to customize the text and pictures inside text frames and picture frames but adding a hyperlink must be done on the master page, or by editing detached. If you edit detached you might as well put the button on each page. I suggest using a master page for your layouts but add the button to each page. Perhaps you could create the button as an asset to save a bit of time. There isn't a way to duplicate an object from one page to the next but you can duplicate pages. Perhaps you could create one page the way you want it and then duplicate many copies of it. (Duplicate it once, select the original and the duplicate, and duplicate both of them at once. Then select the 4 copies and duplicate them. Then select the 8 and so on.)
