so there is no uninstaller from affinity?

Nope, under MacOS you remove the APh app folder from applications and in order to get rid of everything else, you would remove all other APh related stuff on your system from ...

  • ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto/*
    ... or ...
    ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo/*

... other than that there are some MacOS third-party tools (see my above thread reference) which do cleaner uninstalls!

For uninstalling MacOS apps (like APh), it depends on if you want to keep the associated app settings, resources, dependencies etc. here or not? - Since the common Apple MacOS way of dragging the app folder into the trash (or deleting the app folder only) doesn't remove all other by an app over time created resources/dependencies/settings here.

In order to get rid of all app dependencies too there are other third party apps which offer to do so though not all are equally good therin. - Some of those apps are ...

I would probably first try to get rid of all then with the free one listed above, if that doesn't do a complete clean deinstall job, I would try some of the other tools of the list!

No, there is not. However, unless the app itself is damaged, you probably do not need to do an install,  'clean' or otherwise.

Instead, first try resetting AP by holding down the CTRL key when starting it to get the the Clear User Data screen on startup. It looks like this:

At least try the 'Don't Restore' option by itself & if that doesn't help, try the default 3.

so. thanks for your time and help everybody!!!

i switched from metal to opengl in the settings. now the app is responsive as hell ;)

but why would my macbook pro 2019 (the last 16'' with intel) have problems with metal???

regarding the uninstaller i think that this should be included in a good piece of software...

best wishes, kai

If you mean a 'clean' uninstaller, this is rarely included with contemporary macOS apps. That's why third party apps exist for this. However; they sometimes remove more than they should, particularly when 2 or more apps share resources, so they should be used with caution.

The same reason a bunch of Win users have problems with drivers and OpenCL here, aka no flawless adaption/optimization to these hardware acceleration related APIs.

A better question is why it now changes anything when you previously said you had turned it off & that changed nothing ... & why initially (presumably) with it enabled for all 3 apps, only AP V2 was slow.

the reason is, that there are more settings available and i did not try them all. now it looks like the screenshot.
also when i first turned it off, there was still "metal" greyed out in the dropdown menu. now there is opengl (which i was not able to choose in the first try).
i also checked the other two apps and they where already set to opengl. no idea why.
i am just happy it works now! :)
thanks again for your quick help!!
