Ruslan TV
Hi, there! My use case is Publisher + Photo Persona like digital sketchbook with pages. I'm on iPad 12.9 (6th) iOS 16.6. On 7th page it starts crashing after Selection Transform or taping to go home button of Publisher (after transformation). Check video and my file attached. Tested on Desktop, works fine. iPad Publisher 2.2 Beta (1954). Bug_report.mp4 sketchbook.afpub
Staff Sean P Posted August 21, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2023 Hi Ruslan TV, From what I can tell it looks like the app is crashing when it is attempting to save. The app will automatically attempt to make an autosave to a temporary file every 300 seconds (5 minutes), and will also attempt to save when returning to the home screen. Is this reproducible from a fresh app run (i.e quit the app from the app selection screen)? If so could you do that and record a screen recording from start to finish please? Both my colleague and myself have tried your document on our iPads but haven't been able to get it to crash by following the same steps, so not sure if there is something that has happened prior to this that isn't on the video. Does your iPad have plenty of storage left? How did you initially open the document? Did you use import or open? If Open where was the document stored? Lastly are you able to attach a crash report that can be found in iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data and then look for an .ips file beginning with 'Publisher iPad Beta-2023...' followed by the date and time of the crashes. Thanks!

Thanks! @Sean P I attached crash reports to you. I can't reproduce it right now (after couple of days and app restart). iPad have enough space. I'm using "open" file interface. Document was stored on Dropbox. bugreport.zip
Staff Sean P Posted August 22, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 22, 2023 Thanks for those. Looking at them it definitely looks like its happening on Save. We do have an issue logged whereby a certain command in the Undo/Redo History entries was causing a crash on save, and that is what it is looking like here. If you do encounter this again, I would be interested to see if you can reproduce it after adding certain history entries. However you can clear the Undo/Redo history from the History Panel > Preferences icon > Clear History. That should then allow you to save. Ruslan TV
Ok, I'll try. Thank you.
Ruslan TV
Hi! You are right. I have same crash again and history reset helps. I have nothing special in history, just paint, erase, transformation, undo, creating pixel layers, importing images. Furthermore, I can't reproduce it, but it's happen accidentally again and again. It becomes reason, that I can't use beta for my daily routine. I know it's beta, it's ok. Do you know what's these pictograms on my screen means? @Sean P
Staff Sean P Posted August 24, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 24, 2023 Glad you was then able to save again! I will have a play with your document and spend some time brushing and erasing to see if it becomes reproducible for me With regards to that icon - that is a Branched History icon. Essentially it will appear if you undo to a few steps and then continue working - you can click it to return to the history branch prior to the redo. I've attached a video (although its Desktop, the same applies to iPad) which will hopefully give a better idea. Ruslan TV
Thank you for explaining.About the crash. I'm not sure, but it feels like it started crashing after a couple of hours in the document. Maybe there are some things in iPad RAM (idk how it works, sorry if it sounds stupid). Hope it helps and you will fix it.

Is this history issue fixed? Do you have any forecast about it? This thing is critical for me.
