MarkWL Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Others have more than likely mentioned it, but here are my observations anyway: Affinity Designer V2 2.1.1.1847 Frame text ruler is not visible/accessible on a text frame made by FrameText Tool. Even after previously mentioned work arounds. (Can apply tab stops etc via dialogue boxes, but it's a real pain). 😞 Affinity Publisher V2 2.1.1.1847 Show Text Ruler works properly with tab stops on a text frame made by FrameText Tool, 🙂 hooray! Staff MEB Posted August 18, 2023 Staff Posted August 18, 2023 Hi @MarkWL, Welcome to Affinity Forums Thanks for your feedback. Originally the text frame ruler was intended for Publisher only but quite a few users have requested it to be made availabe in Designer as well. The issue is logged with dev but its approval is still pending. I've bumped the report again. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

The text frame ruler is a feature that hasn't been added to Designer. Serif has logged it with the developers for review but that doesn't mean it will be added, just that it will be considered. For now at least, you'll need to use Publisher to use the text frame ruler. RJVELA Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 @MEB Can you please include in your feedback to the developers that Designer is a different workflow (Artboards) than Publisher (Pages). We need precision for paragraph text tool using margin settings not through more management of layers. Designer can often be used as a layout prototyping workflow, before a Publisher project. Pls, its really annoying that it's not in Designer now.

Publisher can also work with artboards though. Thanks for the tip. But users shouldn't have to buy two products for this functionality which is essential to both apps that use heavy amounts of Text Layers. Imagine if Text Frame indents were only allowed in Microsoft PowerPoint and not in Word.
