This is on Mac OS 12.6.8. If I have _Words_(.) set in the Find field and \1 with a Paragraph Style chosen then I get a hang with Replace All. Replace seems to work fine, Replace All causes a hang when paired with Story.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Did you provide the right response expression in your post?

Wouldn't that one just find a string surrounded by underscores, and followed by one character, and Replace the whole thing with that one character and a text style?

That feels like something unlikely to want to do....

I can confirm this happens on macOS when the scope is set to either Story or Selection when using normal, non-Regex search terms but only on the second search...

When doing a Find and Replace, if the Scope is set to either Story or Selection Publisher will hang on the second search…

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a Publisher document of one or more pages with linked text frames
  2. Initiate a Find and Replace
  3. Enter both a Find and a Replace term, e.g., Find: Alice | Replace: Andrew
  4. Set the scope to either Story or Selection
  5. Hit Find
  6. Hit Replace All - all works as expected - All instances of Alice are replaced with Andrew
  7. Enter a second Find and Replace term, e.g, Find: Andrew | Replace: Alice (Note: any Find and Replace terms cause Publisher to hang)
  8. Hit Find
  9. Hit Replace All - Publisher hangs
