irandar
Hi folks, I find a great difference for an astro stacked Milkyway between the AP file and its generated jpeg or tiff. The difference is in the much greater number of stars shown for the 100% jpeg and tiff. Any ideas why? Thanks
irandar
This is APv1 with the Milkyway problem. Here are the jpeg and screenshot of the APfile. I notice that the difference does not show up so much here.
Staff Callum Posted August 16, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 16, 2023 Hi Irandar, I apologise but I'm not sure if I understand your problem please could you provide copies of the original files you are having this problem with and steps I can follow to reproduce the issue here at my end? This will allow me to look into this further with you. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. irandar
@Callum I think I did send the jpeg and a screenshot. Here is a zip of the originals . Not having any problem with them. Only that the jpeg is different than the APfile, having many more stars. I see the zip is too large, 360mb. I am using the Stareater macro of JR to eliminate some of the stars. It uses something call Live Minimum. Thanks
irandar
@Callum Thought I would send 5 of the raw files here. It occurred to me that maybe it has something to do with from the camera. No calibration files were available. But still why should the jpegs pick it up if the AP file looks pretty good. Staff Callum Posted August 16, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 16, 2023 Hi Irandar, Just to clarify are the JPEGs you are referring to ones you have exported from Affinity or are they directly from the camera? Am I right in thinking you are seeing more detail in the exported files than you are when viewing them within the app? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
irandar
@Callum Did you get the 6 files I sent? The camera files are raw. The jpg is exported from APv1 after stacking and editing 11 raw files. The exported jpg shows many more stars, or maybe hot spots on the sensor. Those many stars I do not see in the AP file. I think it unusual that the exported jpg would be so different from the original AP file. Thanks, Irving
R C-R
Just guessing but I think what you are seeing in the JPEG is compression artefacts, not more detail. Staff Callum Posted August 17, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 17, 2023 Hi Irandar, Thank you for the files I'm trying to recreate this here however I'm having some difficulty getting my image to look like yours prior to exporting I have ran the star eater macro but can't seem to find a live minimum macro please could you provide a copy of it? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
irandar
@Callum It is not a macro but it is part of the JR Star Eater macro. When you click on it and open it up then comes the adjustment window with a slider. This is called Live Minimum. Here is a screen shot. irandar
@callum Let us forget this problem for now. I was able to get a successful result with another target. I will look into it again. Thanks and regards, Irving
