Hiding crawling ants and guides with one shortcut

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a long time photoshop user but nowadays I only teach and don't have a gfx company anymore.

So when I saw this "reasonably priced" alternative, I was excited and bought all 3 softwares.

And I have to say that this suite is really amazing, I like it much.

So now I'm trying to recreate or find alternatives to my workflows. Most of the time it goes smoothly.

My question is this:

Is it possible, with a keyboard shortcut, to toggle (hide/show) both the guides and the crawling ants (while keeping the selection).

A bit like the preview mode in publisher.

Thank you for your help :)

Hi @joshyy1312 welcome to the forums,

There isn't a shortcut assigned by default, but you can assign a shortcut to toggle the pixel selection's visibility under Settings > Shortcuts > View as highlighted below.

I don't think it's possible to have both assigned to the same keyboard shortcut simultaneously as this creates a shortcut conflict and will only use the original assignment.

You can temporarily hide the selected object outline by holding Space. Sadly can't assign the same shortcut to Show pixel selection.

@NathanC Should this shortcut not be called 'Toggle pixel selection visibility' or similar, rather than Show?

The option was likely given 'Show' instead of 'Toggle' to fit in with the other visual Shortcuts/options available under the 'View' menu such as 'Show Guides', as whether the setting is enabled is determined via the 'Tick' icon to the left of the setting.
