Brightfall
Hi, When I open my PDF, Affinity states there are two fonts missing on the PDF Options dialog. Thats fine as this document has two custom fonts in it. The problem is, that the two missing fonts are being shown with the same ID, so when I replace one font with what it should be, it replaces both. (See screenshot) This PDF was originally exported from Affinity Publisher 1 some time ago, so either it has exported this PDF with both fonts with the same ID, or Affinity Publisher 2 is incorrectly showing both fonts with the same ID on the dialog. Not sure which is the case? Any suggestions how I can correct the problem and replace both fonts with the correct fonts with AP2? Cheers. Staff NathanC Posted August 15, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 15, 2023 Hi @Brightfall welcome to the forums, That is quite an unusual name for the font files that were embedded into the PDF file originally, could you perhaps provide us with the .PDF file and font file(s) in question so we can take a look? If you do not wish to share the files publicly I have provided a private dropbox link below. https://www.dropbox.com/request/pcVdBZlOH34Sh7FoMsQs Many thanks

Staff NathanC Posted August 15, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 15, 2023 Thanks, it does look like the problem has occurred with the font subsetting when Pub v1 exported the document originally. Acrobat can distinguish the fonts on the document, but when viewed in the document properties they have the exact same font name. Evidently as a result of this, when Publisher 2 interprets the PDF it is likely seeing that the two separate fonts share the same font name, and then overrides the second replacement with the font you chose for the first (Top) replacement. In an attempt to resolve this I did try and run acrobat’s PDF optimiser tool, but since the fonts were not embedded and were subset to begin with, this didn’t yield much success. It might be possible to do something within the internal PDF structure to re-associate one of the fonts with a different working font, but I don’t have experience in doing this. I think the simplest solution to this would be to do a manual correction after importing the file. The easiest way to do this would be to assign the top missing font to ‘Optima’ since this makes up for the significant majority of the text content, and then manually set the Headings of each page to the ‘Limelight’ font. This shouldn’t take too long to do since there’s only around 11~ pages which use that font as the header, some of the additional spaces in the headings which have been added during the Interpret would also need deleting.
