Styles with white background on name

Recommended Posts

Some of the styles listed in the paragraph panel have a white background:

I think this may have to do with the fact that I placed a Word file that contains these styles, rather than creating them initially in Affinity.  But I want to use them, and it's hard to read with the light gray text.  Any way to fix this or prevent it from happening?

You can configure the panel options so it doesn't display the names as Samples.

Thanks, but I'm not sure this addresses the issue.  I did find the control you mention to turn of display as samples.  However, the styles with light gray text and white background do not match what's defined in the style; all text is black and there are no light backgrounds applied.  In the additional screen shot below, you can see that I'm using two styles in this publication, one for body text and one for headings.  This is reflected accurately in the Text Styles pane (aside from the white-ish ones) and I would like to keep this display turned on.  But turning off Samples does get rid of the white background, at least.  Still, I am very curious about where this gray text/white background comes from since it's not part of the styles.

It will be in the Colour section of the Paragraph Style's editing window. You can see how the White Colour highlight shows up with a Green rectangle placed underneath the text layer.

Here is how to get rid of the White, change it to Clear/None

Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
