aemeilius Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Using Designer 2.1.1 on Mac OS 13.5, I get a crash on starting the print dialog somewhat consistently on a variety of documents. I can reproduce maybe 1 in 3 tries of quitting and restarting the app) with a particular document (probably shouldn't upload the document publicly, but could share privately). I haven't managed to reproduce with blank documents, though it is possible there's a way to. I'm using hardware acceleration (M2 Metal) by default but I was able to reproduce after turning it off as well. Nothing is connected to my laptop and there aren't any exciting drivers other than the HP printer drivers. I've seen this before, since switching to Affinity Designer 2, but never been able to reproduce consistently till I started working on this document. Steps: open document (consists of a large resolution image, some text around it, and some simple vector shapes/lines in a 8.5x11" document) attempt to open print with Cmd+P, default printer (when it works) is HP Color LaserJet M856 with driver version 10.4 Get crash, reported to apple repeatedly Affinity Designer 2 MAS-2023-08-14-111424.ips Affinity Designer 2 MAS-2023-08-14-112250.ips Affinity Designer 2 MAS-2023-08-14-113124.ips
Dan C Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Hi @aemeilius, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I can see from your crash reports that many references to 'Symbols' are made - do the document(s) that cause the app to crash when printing contain Symbol objects/layers please? I've seen crashing occurring previously when the Print dialog is shown be resolved by a reinstallation of printer drivers, therefore can you please try the following: Visit the manufacturers website and download the latest drivers available Remove/Uninstall the Printer from your system through macOS Restart your mac Reconnect/reinstall the Printer, using the recently downloaded driver Try printing from Affinity once again Please do let me know how you get on here!
