RiChap
I would appreciate any help and advice on how to improve the quality of these two photos. I just don't seem to be able to find a suitable solution. Adjusting brightness, exposure, levels or curves gets me so far but not to a level I am happy with. Many thanks Richard C
firstdefence
One of the problems you have is loss of detail so at best you can make it look less washed out. but nothing much more than that using Affinity Photo. A quick play yielded this, aesthetically it makes a difference when you replace the block of white sky with a colour sky, I tried to pick a sky that looked like the sun was coming from the right and matched a little the blue in the hat rim. thomaso
The portraits may get adjusted with various settings, for instance in the Develop persona like so: For the other image it seems to require additional, local masking (to limit corrections to the persons), here for instance still without a mask and "Haze Removal" only: Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
