Designer 2 crashing when I go to print

Recommended Posts

Hi @Alice88 and welcome to the forums,

Does it crash when printing any/all files, e.g., if you create a new blank document add a shape and attempt to print so you see the same issue?

  1. Is this happening on Windows or Mac?
  2. Which Printer are you printing to?
  3. Which version of the OS are you running?
  4. Which version of Designer are you using 2.1.1 or the 2.2 Beta?

Are you able to provide a sample Designer file where you see the crash so we can take a look?

Hi @Alice88,

Thank you for the update...

Okay, so it appears to be the background causing the problem, which library did you use to specify Pantone 9520 C, as in, it's not a colour native to the Affinity Pantone Library?

Replacing the colour with a standard Pantone seems to allow your document to print without issue... or alternatively changing your background to C:8 M0 Y:6 K:0 will provide a decent colour match and also allow the document to print.

@Hangman FYI!

The Pantone value comes from Pantone+ Pastels & Neons

Hi @Komatös,

You're not wrong, thanks for highlighting...

It seems when the Pantone 9520 C swatch is reapplied to the background in the original artwork then it will print without issue so I'm unsure what causes the print failure when initially opening the file but at least there is an easy resolution... :)

Hi @Alice88,

Try deleting the background layer completely and then add a new rectangle and re-apply the Pantone 9520 C swatch to the new background layer rather than editing the colour for the existing background layer, this should work.

There appears to be some sort of corruption with the existing background layer causing the printing issue and ultimately causing Affinity Designer to hang...

Let us know if that fixes the issue for you...

Hi @Alice88,

That's great to hear, I'm glad everything is working for you now... out of curiosity do you sell your artwork on Etsy?
